Global Apartheid

Global apartheid, stated briefly, is an international system of minority rule whose attributes include: differential access to basic human rights; wealth and power structured by race and place; structural racism, embedded in global economic processes, political institutions and cultural assumptions; and the international practice of double standards that assume inferior rights to be appropriate for certain "others," defined by location, origin, race or gender.

Global Apartheid is similar to the South-African practice of Apartheid where a small minority of people makes rules that work in their favor while disfavoring others. This is common with many the major global-decision making bodies including the World Bank, and the World Trade Organization so that the elite of the world continue to have more resources and human rights privileges than those in poor countries.  Thus there is a wide gap between the rich and poor which keeps increasing across borders.

Just as we raised our voices to end apartheid in South Africa, let us unite to end Global Apartheid!
